I've always been into sounds and music. I remember my mom playing records, yes records, all the time. Music was just there, in the background, when I was a kid.Like the drone of a freeway, when it's there constantly, you develop the ability to filter it out. But it slowly becomes part of your surroundings, embedding itself into your DNA; part of what it means to be "home". The Beatles, Al Green, Smokey Robinson, and the Beach Boys were playing were among those playing constantly behind the activities of daily living, of just being. When I was 8 or 9, I got my hands on my grandfather's old reel to reel tape recorder. The obsession began taking hold then. I'd record sounds and manipulate them by slowing them down and speeding them up. I've been blessed with the good fortune of living two lives. I've had my music used in the Fox Television show It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, I've recorded and written with Dean Dinning and Randy Gus of Toad the Wet Sprocket, I've played NXNE in Toronto, SXSW in Austin, and toured extensively throughout California. Along the way, I've worked with and learned from some of the most talented musicians around. All of this was achieved without missing the chance to be a stay-at-home father for both of my children. Writing and recording is like meditation for me; a way to get centered, focused, and tame the monkey mind. I'm always working on something new, so my site will be morphing constantly.
